Project Overview
The project is creating a circuit that with certain switch combinations will cycle through and show your date of birth on a hex display. We also needed to implement at least one segment having either NAND or NOR gates implemented to it. I also needed to implement how a seven segment display works.
Truth Table
A truth table for this project is basically a visual representation of the combinations that are needed to display the numbers on the seven segment display. The table shows that there will be three switches which will change in order to show different numbers. The table has columns a through g because a seven segment display has seven segments that are either on or off so that it can show a number. This also allows you to easily create K-maps.
K-Mapping
For K-mapping the columns are the groups and then the rows are set up so that they set up all of the of the different combinations. The expressions are in SOP form. You end up having multiple expressions because of there being seven segments but there is multiple expressions that repeated for my K-maps.
Multi-Sim
The circuit above shows the wiring for my birthday breadboarding. Part of the circuit is in bus form so it would be much cleaner and make it easier to troubleshoot the circuit. There is three inverters, nine AND gates, six OR gates and six NAND gates. So there will need to be one inverter chip, three AND chips, two OR chips and two NAND chips. I used the NAND chips for the g segment because it seemed like it would be the simplest to do. The difference for common anode and common cathode is common anode needs to be grounded and common cathode is powered.

Breadboarding
The three pictures show different angles of the breadboarding. The wiring was much simpler than the last project but still caused some problems but they were much easier to correct.
Conclusion
Overall the project was pretty easy once I got caught up. But still shared some problems that were still hindering me. Overall I felt good about this project and feel like I am better at breadboarding because of this project and enjoyed it very much.
